Ross of Mull and Morvern along Loch Aline

From 30th of July till 8th of August 2024, we were two to follow the Way of Stevenson. The walks goes through unknown part of the remote, savage and quite uninhabited island, This was an adventure, with lots of rain, a weather changing quickly. A compass was essential after Malcom’s Point, an unwaited point of view, beyond it a meandering stream where deer can drink. So much wind in camping there ! Sometimes we had to cross rivers with shoes already wet. Close to Glenforsa forest, it’s rough and boggy, a lot. At the middle of the way, in Mull, we have appreciated to stay one full day in Lochbuie close to a cafe, the Old Post Office, where we shared all the meals, a privilege David Balfour had not been able to have. There we continued reading and thinking about Stevenson and his character, a voice in the novel we tried to listen to.

This adventure opens body and mind to giant ferns, to be as animals looking, feeling, slowly belonging to moor and fog, sometimes close to the sea and its lush vegetation. At Morven, everything has changed, and we decided to walk all along the Loch Aline, discovering gardens of Ardtornish Estate.
